42-75614 Little Angel 3

42-75614 Little Angel 342-75614 Little Angel 3P-47D-11-RE #42-75614 Little Angel, another Thunderbolt which was stationed at Molesworth, but unlike #42-8567 it was assigned directly to the 303rd BG Headquarters from June 1944. Like #42-8526 the aircraft flew as a formation monitor. Initially in original camouflage in which it was sent to the 303rd BG (including its predecessor’s markings, the 486th FS / 352nd FG - PZ●Z), and from the autumn of 1944 had a bare metal with an individual letter R and full set of 303rd BG markings: white triangle outlined in red and a ‘C’ inside painted on the vertical tail and the upper surface of the starboard wing. It’s worth noticing that during removal of the paint the anti-glare panel was left (including the upper part of the engine cowling and windscreen frames), and all the insignia was refreshed.
